No IMF loan for Belarus yet
The Belarusian delegation headed by deputy CEO of the National Bank Dzmitry Kalechyts and representatives of the International Monetary Fund have conducted negotiations in Washington. The talks were dedicated to our country’s new credit programme. Minsk has been expecting to get a $3bn credit from the IMF for several years. However, Belarus had to stick to certain terms and reform the Belarusian economy for it.
No credit will be allocated for now, BELTA refers to the MFA press service. The terms of the IMF programme for Belarus need to be finished off. The news was reported after the negotiation of the Belarusian delegation with the IMF and World Bank. They discussed the support of macrofinancial balance and structural changes in the Belarusian economy. The IMF noticed ‘progress in the realisation of economic policy measures of the Belarusian government and the National Bank’. Belarus’ prospects as regards the allocation of the IMF credit are unclear at the moment.
