Lukashenka: If World Bank supports us, we will double our road network
The head of state met with Laura Tak from the World Bank.
Alyaksandr Lukashenka noted that the World Bank has helped a lot to modernize the power base of the state, to overcome the consequences of the Chernobyl disaster. But he paid special attention to financing of highway construction. Lukashenka stressed that "efficiency of the East and the West economy depends on the quality of the transit country roads."
The Belarusian leader asked the representative of the World Bank for additional resources for construction of roads in our country. He noted that it is "not only the interest of Belarus, but also of the EU, Russia and Asia." Alyaksandr Lukashenka assured that if there is funding, in 3-4 years the road network would grow twofold and improve.

Lukashenka: Due to the fact that other transit countries between Europe and the East are now in a difficult position, especially Ukraine, Belarus is the most attractive country for transit. And we have taken additional measures for the construction and upgrading of existing transport corridors between Europe and Asia.
