Belarus’ official coronavirus death toll rises to 79
The total number of confirmed coronavirus infection cases in Belarus increased from 11,289 on Monday morning to 12,208 on the morning of April 28, with the coronavirus death toll climbing from 75 to 79, according to the country’s health ministry.
That was the highest rise in the number of new cases of the coronavirus in Belarus since the start of the outbreak.
The ministry said that a total of 1,993 people had recovered from the coronavirus. As many as 161,028 tests for the coronavirus had been carried out in the country by Tuesday morning.
The ministry did not provide region-by-region breakdowns of coronavirus cases and deaths and did not say how many patients were in severe condition and were on ventilators.
Multiple media reports from different localities in Belarus indicate that the health ministry may be underreporting deaths linked to the coronavirus.
