Belarus to spend about $2 billion on Chernobyl remedial action
One of main focuses of the state program will be social protection of residents of the affected areas: benefits and compensation, free school meals.
In the next five years, the Belarusian authorities are planning to spend about 30 trillion rubles (about $2 billion) on the remedial action of the Chernobyl nuclear power plant disaster. According to the head of department for elimination of the consequences of the Chernobyl disaster at the Ministry of Emergency Situations of Belarus Uladzimir Chernikau, it will take place within the relevant state program.
According to Mr Chernikau, reported by ria.ru, one of the main directions of the state program will be the social protection of residents of the affected areas - benefits and compensation, free school meals.
The second focus will be on protective measures in agriculture and forestry. In particular, agricultural soils will have added in them fertilizer for the binding of cesium to grow in these areas clean vegetable production.
