Human rights defender Bandarenka gets charged again before release
Imprisoned human rights defender Andrei Bandarenka has been charged again three months after his imprisonment. Bandarenka has been accused of ‘malicious disobedience to the colony administration by a person penalized for a heinous crime, the human rights website Viasna reports.
If he is returned guilty, he will be facing up to two years of imprisonment. If Bandarenka is convicted, Viasna will announce him a political prisoner.
Bandarenka has been reprimanded a dozen times during his imprisonment. The former chairperson of the human rights organization Platform Innovation has been announced a malicious troublemaker in prison.
He was reprimanded again on January 11 – for not putting his hands behind the back. Banadrenka was deprived of a parcel for that.
Banadrenka’s term of imprisonment will finish on March 31, 2007.
