Registration of MP candidates begins in Belarus
The registration of candidates that will run for MP seats in Belarus started on August 2. It will last through August 11. During thie period, district electoral committees will study the documents submitted by potential candidates. The documents include biographies, tax declarations and signatures (if they were collected for registration).
Potential contenders will be refused registration, if one or more key documents are missing or if the applicants have previous convictions or if 15% of the collected signatures are invalid.
It is already clear that more than 6 candidates will run per one seat seat in the Vitsebsk Province and almost 5 candidates per seat in the Brest Province.
Pre-election agitation will start after the registration of candidates. The parliamentary election is scheduled to take place on September 11.
