27% of Belarusians would vote for Lukashenka now – survey
Belarusian president Lukashenka’s rating has fallen by 6% if compared to that of last December, the Independent Institute of Socio-Economic and Political Studies (IISEPS) reports with reference to its recent national survey.
According to previous surveys, in September 2015, 45.7% of Belarusians were ready to vote for Alyaksandr Lukashenka, in December 2016 – 33.3%, now – only 27,3%.
The Belarusian leader’s public trust rating has also dropped. In September 2015, 53.5% of respondents trusted him while 33.3% did not trust; in December – 47% and 37.1% respectively, at the moment 41.7% of Belarusians have trust in him while 47.4 % hold him in distrust.
In March 2006, 53.4% of interviewees set great store on the preservation of the then status quo, 37.8% were eager to alter it; in June 2014, the relations changed – 38.3% vs. 52.1%. At the present day, only 24.7 % of Belarusians want to preserve the current state of affairs, 67.3% look forward for some changes (during the 2011 crisis the showings equalled to 18% and 70.1%, respectively).
If a presidential election were held at the moment, 6.9% of respondents would vote for Tatsiana Karatkevich (in December – 9.9%, in October – 15.7%), 2.9% would cast their vote for Mikalai Statkevich.
