Prime Minister Myasnikovich suggests combating unnecessary consumer imports
Prime Minister Mikhail Myasnikovich suggested Tuesday that the government should make an all-out effort to combat unnecessary consumer imports.
"We should employ all tools of economic regulation at the center and in the provinces to reduce the outflow of foreign exchange from the country to the maximum possible degree," Mr. Myasnikovich said at a government meeting, according the Council of Ministers press office. "Consumer imports alone rose by almost 29 percent [year-on-year] in the first nine months."
Mr. Myasnikovich directed that appropriate agencies should take exhaustive measures to make the consumer market meet the government’s requirements, the press office said.
Mr. Myasnikovich also tasked the economy ministry, the trade ministry and the regional executive committees with examining organizations for compliance with anti-monopoly regulations with regard to goods whose prices had risen higher than projected.
