Oil supply talks fail
Russia will supply not more than 18 million tonnes of oil to Belarus in 2013.
A Belarusian delegation that arrived in Russia for the talks on oil balance for 2013 failed to agree on import of 23mn tonnes of oil for the next year, Interfax news agency learnt from a source close to the government.
"A governmental delegation led by Belarusian Deputy PM Uladzimir Syamashka was in Moscow on November 19-20 to discuss the 2013 oil balance. Representatives of the Russian administration refuted Syamashka's earlier statements regarding the volume of import for 2013 and offered the volume of import of 18 million tonnes of oil," the source said.
According to him, "the Belarusian delegation is returning to Minsk on Tuesday".
The source notes the volume offered by Russia for 2013 is "3 million tonnes less than Belarus plans to import this year and 5 million tonnes less than the country wants for the next year".
The source didn't specify what Belarus plans to do after Russia's refusal to deliver the requested volume of import.
Belarusian PM Mikhail Myasnikovich said last week referring to his conversation with Russian PM Dmitry Medvedev that an agreement on oil supplies for 2013 had been reached.
