Foreign Trade Negative Balance is Almost $6bn
Belarus’s negative balance of trade in goods has increased $710.2mn for October.
So, BDG newspaper notes, the negative balance of trade in goods amounted to $5731.5mn in January–October. As of November 1, 2008, the negative balance of Belarus was $4956.7mn.
The total volume of foreign trade in goods in January–October 2009 amounts to $39.6bn showing a 37.2% year-on-year decrease.
Imports of goods dropped by 33.3% to $22.68bn, while exports fell by 41.7% year-on-year amounting to $16.95bn.
Deliveries to the CIS member states amounted $7.45bn of the total export volume showing a 41.8% decline in comparison with January–October 2008. According to the Ministry of Statistics, the volume of export to Russia dropped by 42.6% ($5.54bn), to Ukraine – by 48.7% (%1.32BN).
Export to the non-CIS countries amounted to almost 9.5bn with a 41.6% year-on-year decline.
The situation with import to Belarus is as follows: Belarus imported goods from the CIS countries at a total sum of $14.5bn (a 37.1% year-on-year drop).
Imports from Russia amounted to $13.3bn, Ukraine – $1bn. The volume of import of goods from non-CIS states made $8.1bn in January–October. The volume of import from Russia decreased by 36.5%, from non-CIS countries – by 25.4%.
