Rosselkhoznadzor starts new food war against Belarus
“Rosselkhoznadzor” has published a “black list” of nearly a hundred Belarusian enterprises, 34 of which have a status of “enhanced laboratory control”, 26 – a warning, and 36 with specific requirements from the agency.
“Rosselkhoznadzor” has introduced temporary restrictions on supplies of products from three more Belarusian enterprises – “Myasapradukt”, “Ruzhovy Kit” and Myasny Dvor “Tarasava”. And on May 22, enhanced laboratory control measures, which relate to the production of nine domestic meat and dairy enterprises, were introduced. Former Prime Minister, member of the board of the Eurasian Economic Commission Syarhei Sidorsky, disagrees with the measures.
The change of attitude became particularly evident after the visit of the Belarusian President to China. However, a few days ago the Russian Minister of Agriculture Aleksandr Tkachev, after talks with the Belarusian side, said that Moscow had lifted the supply ban from two meat and seven dairy Belarusian enterprises, and within a week to ten days there would be held the next stage of negotiations to remove another ban.
Back in February 2017, Alyaksandr Lukashenka accused “Rosselkhoznadzor” head Sergei Dankvert of all the food supply problems and ordered domestic law enforcement agencies to put handcuffs on him for damage to Belarus. However, the Kremlin also has an opinion on that: a few days ago Russian Prosecutor General’s Office issued a response to the query of “Transparency International center Russia”, finding no commercial interest in the Russian official’s restrictions on deliveries of Belarusian products.
